Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 421C-41

  • Association: means a consumer cooperative association. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 421C-1
  • Electric utility cooperative association: means a consumer cooperative association that provides electric utility service as a public utility. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 421C-1
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Unclaimed property: includes moneys, checks, drafts, interest, dividends, income, credit balances, overpayments, deposits, refunds, and non-escheat patronage refunds. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 421C-1

Chapter 523 A shall not apply to an electric utility cooperative association; provided that each association within one hundred twenty days after the close of the association’s fiscal year, shall file with the director of finance an annual report of unclaimed property in its possession in a form prescribed by the director of finance; provided further that the electric utility cooperative association shall remain responsible for the payment of all claims relating to unclaimed property reported by it to the director of finance.
