  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.

The judicial circuits of the State established by § 603-1 are deemed to be the “districts” referred to in Article I, section 14, of the Constitution of the State with respect to the right to a trial by jury in criminal prosecutions, until such time as the legislature of the State shall otherwise provide.
