Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 205 ILCS 510/11

  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Every person who knowingly violates the provisions of this Act shall, for the first offense, be guilty of a Class C misdemeanor, and for each subsequent offense shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor, except that a person who knowingly violates this Act by operating a pawnshop without a license shall be guilty of a Class B misdemeanor for the first offense and shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor for any subsequent offense. This Act shall not be construed as to, in any wise, impair the power of cities or villages in this State to license, tax, regulate except as to fee amounts, suppress, and prohibit pawnbrokers as now provided by law.
