The Department shall select a dental coordinator, who shall not be a member of the Board. The dental coordinator shall be a dentist. The dental coordinator shall be the chief enforcement officer of the disciplinary provisions of this Act.
The Department shall employ, in conformity with the Personnel Code, such investigators as it deems necessary to investigate violations of this Act. Each investigator shall be a college graduate with at least 2 years’ investigative experience or one year of advanced dental or medical education. The Department shall employ, in conformity with the Personnel Code, such other professional, technical, investigative and clerical assistance on either a full or part-time basis, as the Department deems necessary for the proper performance of its duties. The Department shall retain and use such hearing officers as it deems necessary. All employees of the Department shall be directed by, and answerable to, the Department, with respect to their duties and functions.
