- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The value of such fence, and the proportion thereof to be paid by such person, and the proportion of the division fence to be made and maintained by him, in case of his inclosing his land, may be determined by 2 fence viewers of the town, in counties under township organization, and in other counties by any 2 fence viewers of the precinct; or, at the option of the aggrieved party, such value or proportion may be ascertained in an action brought by him before any court of competent jurisdiction.
