Under the Illinois Statutes, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:Class | Prison | Fine |

Class A misdemeanor | up to 1 year | up to $2,500 |
Any county officer herein above named, failing or refusing to pay over to the county treasurer the fees of the office, as provided in this Article, or who knowingly demands or receives other or greater fees than those provided by law, shall be deemed guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.
