Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 55 ILCS 5/5-23039
- County board: means the board of county commissioners in counties not under township organization, and the board of supervisors in counties under township organization, and the board of commissioners of Cook County. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.07
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
The county board of each county in this State shall have the power, in the manner provided hereinafter in Section 5-23040, to provide for the care and treatment of the inhabitants thereof who may be afflicted with tuberculosis and to levy in excess of the statutory limit, an additional annual tax of not to exceed .075 per cent of the value as equalized or assessed by the Department of Revenue of all taxable property of the county, such tax to be levied and collected in like manner with general taxes of such county and to form, when collected, a fund to be known as the “Tuberculosis Care and Treatment Fund”.
