Under the Illinois Statutes, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:Class | Prison | Fine |

Class B misdemeanor | up to 6 months | up to $1,500 |
Any person who wilfully, or through culpable negligence violates any of the provisions of this Division 1 or any rule promulgated in accordance with the provisions thereof, other than Section 10-1-16, is guilty of a Class B misdemeanor. Any person who wilfully or through culpable negligence violates any of the provisions of Section 10-1-16 of this Code, or any rule promulgated in accordance with the provisions thereof, is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.
