Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 605 ILCS 5/4-208

  • Municipalities: has the meaning established in Section 1 of Article VII of the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.27
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The Department may select streets in municipalities to form routes leading from business centers therein to State highways running through such municipalities and may erect and maintain suitable guide signs upon them. However, such streets shall not thereby become part of the State highway system but shall remain part of the municipal street system; but any such street may be made part of the State highway system as provided by Section 4-203.
