(1) There is hereby established in the State Treasury a special fund to be known as the fire prevention and public safety fund. The fund shall consist of all moneys recovered as penalties under KRS § 227.778 and moneys collected for fees pursuant to KRS § 227.715.
(2) Notwithstanding KRS § 45.229, fund amounts not expended at the close of the fiscal year shall not lapse but shall be carried forward to the next fiscal year.

Terms Used In Kentucky Statutes 227.782

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • State: when applied to a part of the United States, includes territories, outlying possessions, and the District of Columbia. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010
  • Year: means calendar year. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010

(3) Any interest earnings of the fund shall become a part of the fund and shall not lapse. (4) The moneys shall be deposited to the credit of the fund and shall, in addition to any
other moneys made available for such purpose, be made available to the state fire
marshal to administer this section, KRS § 227.700 to KRS § 227.750 and 227.752 and to support fire safety and prevention programs.
