If a record delivered to the Secretary of State for filing under this chapter and filed by the Secretary of State contains inaccurate information, a person that suffers a loss by reliance on the information may recover damages for the loss from a person that signed the record or caused another to sign it on the person’s behalf and knew at the time the record was signed that the information was inaccurate.

Terms Used In Kentucky Statutes 272A.2-030

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Secretary: means the officer designated pursuant to KRS §. See Kentucky Statutes 272A.1-020
  • Sign: means , with present intent to authenticate or adopt a record:
    (a) To execute or adopt a tangible symbol. See Kentucky Statutes 272A.1-020
  • State: means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, or any territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. See Kentucky Statutes 272A.1-020
