Terms Used In Texas Family Code 65.002
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
In this chapter:
(1) “Child” means a person who is 12 years of age or older and younger than 19 years of age.
(2) “Juvenile court” means a court designated under § 51.04 to exercise jurisdiction over proceedings under Title 3.
(3) “Qualified telephone interpreter” means a telephone service that employs licensed court interpreters, as defined by § 157.001, Government Code.
(4) “Truancy court” means a court designated under § 65.004 to exercise jurisdiction over cases involving allegations of truant conduct.
