(a) In Dallas, El Paso, Harris, Tarrant, and Travis counties, the district clerk may appoint, at the request of a district judge, a special deputy district clerk to serve that judge’s court.
(b) The salary of a special deputy clerk appointed under this section shall be paid out of the general fund of the county.
