Terms Used In Texas Government Code 2001.056
- Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
Unless precluded by law, an informal disposition may be made of a contested case by:
(1) stipulation;
(2) agreed settlement;
(3) consent order; or
(4) default.
