Terms Used In Texas Government Code 2001.096
- Deposition: An oral statement made before an officer authorized by law to administer oaths. Such statements are often taken to examine potential witnesses, to obtain discovery, or to be used later in trial.
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
A deposition in a contested case shall be taken in the county where the witness:
(1) resides;
(2) is employed; or
(3) regularly transacts business in person.
