- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Except as provided by § 8801.103, the district has all of the rights, powers, privileges, and authority necessary and convenient to exercise its jurisdiction and powers as provided by this chapter, whether the jurisdiction and powers are specifically authorized by this chapter or implied from this chapter or other law.
