(a) The association may act as an employer for the purpose of maintaining an employee welfare benefit plan or an employee pension benefit plan, as defined by 29 U.S.C. § 1002, for the benefit of branch pilots licensed under this chapter.
(b) A benefit plan must be established and maintained in accordance with applicable law pertaining to benefit plans.
