Terms Used In Texas Water Code 26.178
- Board: means the Texas Water Development Board. See Texas Water Code 26.001
- Commission: means the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission. See Texas Water Code 26.001
- Pollution: means the alteration of the physical, thermal, chemical, or biological quality of, or the contamination of, any water in the state that renders the water harmful, detrimental, or injurious to humans, animal life, vegetation, or property or to public health, safety, or welfare, or impairs the usefulness or the public enjoyment of the water for any lawful or reasonable purpose. See Texas Water Code 26.001
- Population: means the population shown by the most recent federal decennial census. See Texas Government Code 311.005
All financial assistance from the board to a city having a population of 5,000 or more inhabitants shall be conditioned on the city submitting to the commission for review and in accordance with rules and submission schedules promulgated by the commission a water pollution control and abatement program as required by § 26.177 of this code. The board may award grants from the research and planning fund of the water assistance fund to river authorities seeking such funds for purposes of performing regional water quality assessments described in § 26.0135 of this code.
