- Code: includes the Tennessee Code and all amendments and revisions to the code and all additions and supplements to the code. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Department: means the department of labor and workforce development. See Tennessee Code 50-7-803
- Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
- Dislocated worker: means an individual who:
(A) Has been terminated or laid off, or who has received a notice of termination or layoff from employment, including an individual: (i) Currently eligible for unemployment insurance benefits. See Tennessee Code 50-7-803 - Displaced homemaker: means an individual who has been:
(A) Providing unpaid services to the individual's family members in the home. See Tennessee Code 50-7-803 - Eligible training expenses: means expenses determined by the department to be eligible for grants awarded through the Tennessee works pilot program. See Tennessee Code 50-7-803
- Entitlement: A Federal program or provision of law that requires payments to any person or unit of government that meets the eligibility criteria established by law. Entitlements constitute a binding obligation on the part of the Federal Government, and eligible recipients have legal recourse if the obligation is not fulfilled. Social Security and veterans' compensation and pensions are examples of entitlement programs.
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Trade adjustment assistance funds: means funds distributed in accordance with the federal Trade Adjustment Assistance Reform Act of 2002, compiled in title 19 of the United States Code. See Tennessee Code 50-7-803
- United States: includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
