(a) This section shall be known and may be cited as the “Transportation Information Planning Act of 2001.”

(b) The general assembly finds and declares that:
(1) Planning of Tennessee’s transportation system is vital to ensuring that Tennessee’s transportation needs are met now and in the future;(2) The general assembly and the public’s ability to be informed and involved in the planning and implementation of Tennessee’s transportation system will add value to ensuring a transportation system that meets the needs of Tennessee’s citizens; and(3) With the emergence of new information technology, access to planning documentation can and should be made more readily available to the public.(c) In order to facilitate the dissemination of information to the citizens of Tennessee, the department of transportation shall post the following documents or information on its internet website:
(1) A copy of the most current statewide transportation plan required pursuant to § 4-3-2303(13); and(2) Information identifying and explaining the types of planning information available from the department and the procedures for obtaining each type of such information from the department.
