Terms Used In Tennessee Code 47-7-603
- Bailee: means a person that by a warehouse receipt, bill of lading, or other document of title acknowledges possession of goods and contracts to deliver them. See Tennessee Code 47-7-102
- Goods: means all things that are treated as movable for the purposes of a contract for storage or transportation. See Tennessee Code 47-7-102
- Person: includes a corporation, firm, company or association. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
If more than one (1) person claims title to or possession of the goods, the bailee is excused from delivery until the bailee has a reasonable time to ascertain the validity of the adverse claims or to commence an action for interpleader. The bailee may assert an interpleader either in defending an action for nondelivery of the goods or by original action.
