Terms Used In Tennessee Code 67-4-1407
- Hotel: means any structure or space, or any portion thereof, that is occupied or intended or designed for occupancy by transients for dwelling, lodging, or sleeping purposes, and includes privately, publicly, or government-owned hotels, inns, tourist camps, tourist courts, tourist cabins, motels, short-term rental units, primitive and recreational vehicle campsites and campgrounds, or any place in which rooms, lodgings, or accommodations are furnished to transients for consideration. - Operator: means the person operating the hotel, whether as owner, lessee or otherwise. See Tennessee Code 67-4-1401
- State: means any state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, any territory or possession of the United States and any foreign country or political subdivision thereof. See Tennessee Code 67-4-2004
No operator of a hotel shall advertise or state in any manner, whether directly or indirectly, that the tax or any part of the tax will be assumed or absorbed by the operator or that it will not be added to the rent, or that if added, any part will be refunded.
