Under the N.C. Gen. Statutes, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:Class | Prison | Fine |

Class 1 misdemeanor | up to 120 days |
All persons violating any of the provisions of this Article, except for N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-12.12(b), 14-12.13, and 14-12.14, shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. All persons violating the provisions of N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-12.12(b), 14-12.13, and 14-12.14 shall be punished as a Class H felon.
