- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. (a) Notwithstanding (i) any law of this State to the contrary or (ii) anything to the contrary in the bylaws or charter of the hospital service corporation, a hospital service corporation may, by action of its governing board, authorize a reorganization and propose corresponding amendments to its charter. Proposed amendments shall be submitted to the Commissioner for approval, and the Commissioner shall approve the proposed amendments no later than 30 days after receiving the application unless the proposed amendments do not comply with Chapter 55A of the N.C. Gen. Stat..
(b) Any provision of this Article relating to the procedure for amending a charter, other than the provisions of this Part, is inapplicable. (2023-33, s. 1.)
