- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. It is in the public interest for the State to enable growers of tobacco to assess themselves in order to raise funds to promote the interests of tobacco growers. This assessment shall be in addition to the assessment authorized by Article 50C of Chapter 106 of the N.C. Gen. Stat. to promote export sales of tobacco and the assessment authorized by Article 50A of Chapter 106 of the N.C. Gen. Stat. for tobacco research. (2013-311, s. 1.)
