- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. As required by Article VIII of the compact, the Governor shall appoint as compact commissioner an individual who represents at least one local board of education with a high concentration of military children. The compact commissioner shall be responsible for the administration and management of the State‘s participation in the compact. (2008-185, s. 1; 2019-38, s. 1.)
