Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 139-53

  • Public law: A public bill or joint resolution that has passed both chambers and been enacted into law. Public laws have general applicability nationwide.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. See North Carolina General Statutes 12-3

The State Soil and Water Conservation Commission is authorized to accept applications for grants for nonfederal costs relating to small watershed projects authorized under Public Law 566 (83rd Congress as amended) from local sponsors of such projects properly organized under the provisions of either Chapter 156 of the N.C. Gen. Stat. of North Carolina or Chapter 139 of the N.C. Gen. Stat. of North Carolina, or from county service districts authorized by N.C. Gen. Stat. § 153A-301, or from municipal service districts authorized by N.C. Gen. Stat. § 160A-536 Applications shall be made on forms prescribed by the Commission.
