Terms Used In Iowa Code > Chapter 321L - Parking for Persons With Disabilities

  • Business district: means that territory defined by city ordinance as required under section 321L. See Iowa Code 321L.1
  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Condition: means a general problem that may be attributable to a defect in more than one part. See Iowa Code 322G.2
  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Days: means calendar days. See Iowa Code 322G.2
  • Department: means the state department of transportation. See Iowa Code 321L.1
  • Department: means the state department of transportation. See Iowa Code 321H.2
  • Driver: means a person who operates a motor vehicle for the transportation of railroad workers in the motor vehicle on behalf of a railroad worker transportation company, whether the person is employed by the company for wages or drives for the company as an independent contractor. See Iowa Code 327F.39
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
  • Lessee: means any consumer who leases a motor vehicle for one year or more pursuant to a written lease agreement which provides that the lessee is responsible for repairs to the motor vehicle. See Iowa Code 322G.2
  • Lessor: means a person who holds the title to a motor vehicle leased to a lessee under a written lease agreement or who holds the lessor's rights under the agreement. See Iowa Code 322G.2
  • month: means a calendar month, and the word "year" and the abbreviation "A. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Motor vehicle: means a self-propelled vehicle purchased or leased in this state, except as provided in section 322G. See Iowa Code 322G.2
  • Operator: means a person who operates or is in actual physical control of an all-terrain vehicle. See Iowa Code 321I.1
  • Owner: means a person, other than a lienholder, having the property right in or title to an all-terrain vehicle. See Iowa Code 321I.1
  • Person: includes any individual, firm, corporation, partnership, joint adventure, or association, and the plural as well as the singular number. See Iowa Code 321H.2
  • Person with a disability: means a person with a disability that limits or impairs the person's ability to walk. See Iowa Code 321L.1
  • Persons with disabilities parking permit: means a permit bearing the international symbol of accessibility issued by the department which allows the holder to park in a persons with disabilities parking space, and includes the following:
  • Persons with disabilities parking sign: means a sign which bears the international symbol of accessibility that meets the requirements under section 321L. See Iowa Code 321L.1
  • Persons with disabilities parking space: means a parking space, including the access aisle, designated for use by only motor vehicles displaying a persons with disabilities parking permit that meets the requirements of sections 321L. See Iowa Code 321L.1
  • Program: means an informal dispute settlement procedure established by a manufacturer which mediates and arbitrates motor vehicle warranty disputes arising in this state. See Iowa Code 322G.2
  • property: includes personal and real property. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Resident: means as defined in section 483A. See Iowa Code 321I.1
  • Roadway: means that portion of a highway improved, designed, or ordinarily used for vehicular travel. See Iowa Code 321I.1
  • seal: shall include an impression upon the paper alone, or upon wax, a wafer affixed to the paper, or an official stamp of a notarial officer as provided in chapter 9B. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Signature: includes an electronic signature as defined in section 554D. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • United States: includes all the states. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Vehicle: means any vehicle as defined in chapter 321. See Iowa Code 321H.2
  • year: means twelve consecutive months. See Iowa Code 4.1
