1. “Department” means the department of public safety.

- Department: means the department of public safety. See Iowa Code 80H.1
- following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Law enforcement agency: means a law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the search for a suspect in a case involving the death or serious injury of a peace officer in the line of duty, or a law enforcement agency employing a peace officer who is reported missing while on duty under circumstances warranting concern for the peace officer's safety. See Iowa Code 80H.1
- Peace officer: means the same as defined in section 801. See Iowa Code 80H.1
2. “Law enforcement agency” means a law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the search for a suspect in a case involving the death or serious injury of a peace officer in the line of duty, or a law enforcement agency employing a peace officer who is reported missing while on duty under circumstances warranting concern for the peace officer’s safety.
3. “Peace officer” means the same as defined in section 801.4.
