For purposes of this subchapter, unless the context otherwise requires:
1. “Pharmacist” means a practicing pharmacist who is actively engaged in and responsible for the pharmaceutical care of the patient about whom information is requested.

- Board: means the board of hearing aid specialists. See Iowa Code 154A.1
- Board: means the board of pharmacy. See Iowa Code 124.101
- Controlled substance: means a drug, substance, or immediate precursor in schedules I through V of subchapter II of this chapter. See Iowa Code 124.101
- Drug: means :a. See Iowa Code 124.101
- Practitioner: means either:
a. See Iowa Code 124.1012. “Prescribing practitioner” means a practitioner who has prescribed or is contemplating the authorization of a prescription for the patient about whom information is requested. “Prescribing practitioner” does not include a licensed veterinarian.3. “Proactive notification” means a notification by the board, generated based on factors determined by the board and issued to a specific prescribing practitioner or pharmacist, indicating that a patient may be practitioner shopping or pharmacy shopping or at risk of abusing or misusing a controlled substance.4. “Program” means the information program for drug prescribing and dispensing. - Practitioner: means either:
