The director shall have the general and full authority given under statute to control, manage, direct, and operate the following institutions under the director’s jurisdiction, and may at the director’s discretion assign the powers and authorities given the director by statute to a superintendent:
1. Glenwood state resource center.

- following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Institution: means a birthing hospital. See Iowa Code 252A.2
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
2. Woodward state resource center.
3. Mental health institute, Cherokee, Iowa.
4. Mental health institute, Independence, Iowa.
5. State training school.
6. Other facilities not attached to the campus of the main institution as program developments require.
