Terms Used In Iowa Code 511.35

  • Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • year: means twelve consecutive months. See Iowa Code 4.1
511.35 Limitation on proofs of loss.
No stipulation or condition in any policy or contract of insurance or beneficiary certificate
issued by any company or association mentioned or referred to in this chapter, limiting the time to a period of less than one year after knowledge by the beneficiary within which notice or proofs of death or the occurrence of other contingency insured against must be given, shall be valid.
