Terms Used In Iowa Code 514A.12
- person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
514A.12 Title and effective date of chapter.
This chapter may be cited as the “”Uniform Individual Accident and Sickness Act.”” This
chapter shall take effect on the fourth day of July, 1951. A policy, filed with and approved by the insurance commissioner prior to the effective date of this chapter for use, delivery, or issue for delivery to any person in this state, may continue to be used, or delivered, or issued for delivery to any person in this state for a period of five years from and after said effective date without being subject to the provisions of sections 514A.2, 514A.3 and 514A.4; and any rider or endorsement filed with and approved by the insurance commissioner at any time may be used, or delivered, or issued for delivery to any person holding such a policy without being subject to the provisions of sections 514A.2, 514A.3 and 514A.4.
