- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
915.15 Notification by department of justice.
The department of justice shall notify a registered victim of the filing of an appeal,
the expected date of decision on the appeal as the information becomes available to the department, all dispositional orders in the appeal, and the outcome of the appeal of a case in which the victim was involved.
