- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. The person upon whom the notice and order, referred to in sections 4:6-7 to 4:6-10 of this title, is served shall comply with it in all respects within the time limited in such notice and order. Upon failure to comply with the notice or order to treat or transfer bees, the department may give such assistance or take such summary action as, in its judgment, is necessary to prevent the spread of disease, as defined in section 4:6-1 of this title even though such action involves, in extreme cases, the immediate destruction of bees and equipment without compensation.
