Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 4:19-15.19

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 19. Except as otherwise provided in this act, any person who violates or who fails or refuses to comply with sections 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, or 18 of this act or the rules and regulations promulgated by the Department of Health pursuant to section 14 of this act, shall be liable to a penalty of not less than $5.00 nor more than $50 for each offense, to be recovered by and in the name of the Commissioner of Health, or by and in the name of the local board of health of the municipality, or by and in the name of the municipality, as the case may be, except that for the first offense in cases of violations of sections 2, 4, and 6 of this act, the penalty shall be not less than $1.00 nor more than $50, to be recovered in the same manner.
