Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 5:8-60.3

  • Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 4. The Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission shall promulgate regulations allowing qualified organizations to:

a. offer as a raffle prize any personal or professional service, or a gift certificate for any personal or professional service, which is a lawful activity and which the commission determines to be an appropriate raffle prize, and the value of which is within the limits set by the commission for raffle prizes;

b. offer as a raffle prize a gift certificate redeemable for live, edible seafood the value of which is within the limits set by the commission for raffle prizes;

c. offer a discount to any person purchasing two or more tickets for a draw raffle; and

d. use a big six wheel, a big eight wheel or other wheel to determine the winner of a non-draw raffle.
