Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 17B:18-49

  • Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. No domestic insurer shall make any cash disbursement of $100.00 or more unless it is evidenced by a voucher, signed by or on behalf of the person receiving the money, and correctly describing the consideration for the payment. If the expenditure is for both services and disbursements, the voucher shall set forth the services rendered and an itemized statement of the disbursements made. When the voucher cannot be obtained, the expenditure shall be evidenced by an affidavit describing the character and object of the expenditure, and stating the reason for not obtaining the voucher.
