Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 18A:62-53
- Higher education: means that education which is provided by any or all of the public institutions of higher education as herein defined and any or all equivalent private institutions. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. - State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
“Credit” means the right to defer payment of debt or to incur debt and defer its payment.
“Credit card” means any card, plate, coupon book, or other single credit device that may be used from time to time to obtain credit.
“Direct merchandising” means the promotion to sell or offer any goods, wares, services or merchandise to any person by means of interpersonal contact or through the use of displays.
“Public institution of higher education” means Rutgers, The State University, the State colleges or universities established pursuant to chapter 64 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, the county colleges and any other public university or college now or hereafter established or authorized by State law.
“Student” means a person who is a matriculated student at a public institution of higher education in this State whose billing address is in this State.
