Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 30:4-69

  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
  • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
The cost of care and maintenance of a patient, unable to pay the cost of his hospitalization, and found to have no legal settlement in any county of the State, from the beginning of his confinement, shall be borne by the State except as to the part that may be collected under section 30:4-60 of this Title.
