Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 34:12-2

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
No corporation doing business in this state shall, directly or indirectly, require, as a condition of employment of labor in any branch of its service, that any applicants for employment shall, either individually or collectively, be required to sign any paper, document, or writing of any description, by which an obligation is made or implied of renouncing existing membership in an organization, society or brotherhood, or by which a promise is given of not joining such organization at any future time.
