Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 56:11-16
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. As used in this act:
“Consumer” means a natural person.
“Credit card” means any instrument or device, whether known as a credit card, credit plate, or by any other name, issued with or without fee by an issuer for the use of the credit card holder in obtaining money, goods, services or anything else of value on credit.
“Credit card holder” means a consumer named on the face of a credit card to whom or for whose benefit the credit card is issued by an issuer.
“Consumer transaction” means the sale of goods, services or anything of value to a consumer, primarily for personal, family or household purposes.
“Issuer” means the person which issues a credit card or its duly authorized agent.
