Terms Used In Michigan Laws 458.108

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
     Any Baptist church or any Baptist church and society incorporated or organized under the laws of this state, may elect to dissolve their existing corporation and take corporate powers under this act: Provided, The consent of the majority of the members of said church or church and society who may be present at such meeting can be obtained at any regular church or covenant meeting of the church: Provided also, That notice shall be given to said church or church and society to meet with the church at its regular church or covenant meeting for the purpose of dissolving said corporation with a view of organizing under the provisions of this act, said notice to be given on the last 2 Sundays preceding the day on which the act of dissolution shall be taken.
