(1) Any person may file a complaint with the commissioner alleging that a licensee or registrant has violated this act or a rule promulgated or an order issued under this act.
(2) The commissioner may forward the complaint to the licensee or registrant against which the complaint is filed.
Terms Used In Michigan Laws 493.60
- Commissioner: means the commissioner of the office of financial and insurance regulation of the department of energy, labor, and economic growth or his or her authorized representatives. See Michigan Laws 493.51
- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Licensee: means a person licensed or required to be licensed under this act. See Michigan Laws 493.51
- Person: means an individual, corporation, limited liability company, partnership, association, or other legal entity. See Michigan Laws 493.51
- Registrant: means a person that is registered or required to register as a broker, lender, or servicer under this act. See Michigan Laws 493.51
(3) The commissioner shall request that the licensee or registrant respond to the complainant and provide the commissioner with a copy of the response within a specified period. If the licensee or registrant fails to respond to the complainant within the specified period, or fails to handle the complaint to the satisfaction of the commissioner, the commissioner may commence an investigation or administrative action against the licensee or registrant.
