Terms Used In Michigan Laws 125.4229

  • Authority: means a downtown development authority created pursuant to this part. See Michigan Laws 125.4201
  • Fire alarm system: means a system designed to detect and annunciate the presence of fire, or by-products of fire. See Michigan Laws 125.4201
  • Municipality: means a city, village, or township. See Michigan Laws 125.4201
  • Public facility: means a street, plaza, pedestrian mall, and any improvements to a street, plaza, or pedestrian mall including street furniture and beautification, park, parking facility, recreational facility, right-of-way, structure, waterway, bridge, lake, pond, canal, utility line or pipe, building, and access routes to any of the foregoing, designed and dedicated to use by the public generally, or used by a public agency.   • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
    (1) A public facility, building, or structure that is determined by the municipality to have significant historical interests shall be preserved in a manner as considered necessary by the municipality in accordance with laws relative to the preservation of historical sites. The preservation of facilities, buildings, or structures determined to be historic sites by a municipality shall include, at a minimum, equipping the historic site with a fire alarm system.
    (2) An authority shall refer all proposed changes to the exterior of sites listed on the state register of historic sites and the national register of historic places to the applicable historic district commission created under the local historic districts act, 1970 PA 169, MCL 399.201 to 399.215, or the Michigan state housing development authority for review.
