- board: shall be deemed to mean the water management board of a water management district. See Michigan Laws 280.551
- commission: shall be deemed to mean the water management commission of a water management district. See Michigan Laws 280.551
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- public corporation: shall be deemed to include the state of Michigan, counties, cities, villages, townships, metropolitan districts and authorities created by or pursuant to state statutes. See Michigan Laws 280.551
The board shall continue in existence with such changes in personnel as shall result from appointment of members by the commission. It shall be responsible for the operation and maintenance of district projects. The board shall prepare annually and submit to the commission a tentative budget for the maintenance and operation of district projects together with the percentage of such costs proposed to be assessed against each of the several public corporations. The commission shall give 10 days’ notice by registered mail of the hearing on the budget to each public corporation in the district. After such hearing, a budget shall be adopted and the assessment against each public corporation determined.
