Terms Used In Michigan Laws 330.1634

  • Court: means the probate court or the court with responsibility with regard to mental health services for the county of residence of an individual with developmental disability, or for the county in which the individual was found if a county of residence cannot be determined.   • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
     At the time of the appointment of a guardian, the court shall make a reasonable effort to verbally inform the individual of the individual’s right pursuant to section 637 to request at a later date his or her guardian’s dismissal or a modification of the guardianship order, and a written statement shall be served upon the ward indicating his or her rights pursuant to section 637 and specifying the procedures to be followed in petitioning the court.
