- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
For fiscal year 2022-2023 only, in addition to allocations under section 236(7) and (8), $2,500,000.00 is allocated to the tuition incentive program, appropriated from federal revenues under the social security act, temporary assistance for needy families. The allocation in this section must be distributed in the same manner as funds for the tuition incentive program are distributed under section 256.
