When operating an ambulance or a nontransport prehospital life support vehicle under emergency conditions or a reasonable belief that an emergency condition exists, the driver of the ambulance or nontransport prehospital life support vehicle may exercise the privileges and is subject to the constraints prescribed by the Michigan vehicle code, Act No. 300 of the Public Acts of 1949, being section 257.1 to 257.923 of the Michigan Compiled Laws, pertaining to the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle.
