The Commissioner of Transportation may, at the request of any nonprofit corporation or association providing transportation services to persons who are elderly or persons with disabilities in this state, certify, to the extent necessary for such corporation or association to apply for and receive federal funds for the purchase and maintenance of buses, vans and radio dispatch equipment under the provisions of the Urban Mass Transportation Act, that such nonprofit corporation or association is providing transportation services for persons who are elderly and persons with disabilities in this state. Said commissioner may adopt regulations in accordance with the provisions of chapter 54 to implement the purposes of this section.
Terms Used In Connecticut General Statutes 13b-4a
- Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Transportation appointed pursuant to this chapter. See Connecticut General Statutes 13b-2
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Transportation: means any form of transportation for persons or goods within, to or from the state, whether by highway, air, water, rail or any other means. See Connecticut General Statutes 13b-2
